My buddy just bought a 2004 Land Cruiser. Stock tire size is 275 60 18. Is there any problem with putting 285 60 18 on those wheels? It’s a barely larger tire.

Wider with the same aspect ratio means that the speedometer is going to read a bit different (tire is taller). Other than that...if it fits, it fits. 10mm wider shouldn’t make a big difference with mounting it on the rim.

You’ll be fine. Only thing that changes is 10 mm of width on the tire.

Yeah, I remember doing this on my Dodge Ram back in the day, just don’t remember what the size difference was.

60% of 10mm is 6mm, that is the increase in sidewall height. I think it will be alright.
But they should ditch the 18 and get smaller wheels with more rubber.. go look at ih8mud for more ideas..

No worries, there should be plenty of room

Next question- how big could he go on that stock wheel?

And the speedometer difference in is instance is small, less than 2%.

I’m running larger than stock tires on mine and other than the speedometer reading about 10% off I haven’t had any issues whatsoever.

I don’t know much about the 100 series wheels, especially the 18's, but I would assume that they are probably like the 80's. Sounds like people are getting 285/65r18 on there with no mods just fine. I wouldn’t go larger than 33 on the stock width wheels.
